POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of Riverside is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Public Works team. This position performs a variety of maintenance activities involving City streets, sidewalks, parks, trails, buildings, grounds, stormwater infrastructure, vehicles, equipment, and other City property.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Maintain and repair City streets, sidewalks, trails, stormwater systems, drainage structures, signs, and related infrastructure.
Mow, trim, and maintain City parks, grounds, trails, and landscaped areas.
Maintain City buildings, restrooms, playgrounds, facilities, and other public property.
Perform snow and ice removal and remove debris, vegetation, and other obstructions.
Operate and perform general maintenance on City vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools.
Inspect City property and infrastructure for maintenance and safety concerns.
Assist with seasonal decorations, banners, equipment, supplies, and maintenance records.
Respond to emergencies, severe weather, and after-hours maintenance needs as required.
Work professionally with City employees, contractors, vendors, residents, and the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two years of general maintenance experience required.
Valid Iowa driver's license required.
Must obtain and maintain a Class B CDL within 12 months of employment.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively.
Ability to safely operate vehicles, machinery, and equipment and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to traffic, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, machinery, uneven terrain, and other municipal maintenance conditions. Evening, weekend, holiday, and emergency work may be required.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Must reside within 20 miles of the City of Riverside city limits or be willing to relocate within the required area.
